EGYPTIAN WHITE GARLIC

GARLIC is known from ancient Biblical times as a favourite addition to food. Of the first worker strikes were noted to be on occasions when slaves, who built the pyramids in Egypt, refused to continue their work when their rations of garlic were stopped. As even Shakespeare has quoted the use of garlic in one of his plays –– and known to be an aphrodisiac as well, no one should underestimate this flavourful bulb of healthy wonders and sure not the effect it has on those who include it to their daily lifestyles!  Health Properties of Garlic

About us:
The region of KOUP (GHOUP) is one of the 34 regions in South Africa. The Koup can be identified from the Matroos Mountains (Touwsrivier) southwards to Laingsburg; northwards to the Nuwevelds Mountains at Beaufort West and south- eastwards to the feet of the GrootRivers Mountains near Willomore. The centre of the Koup is situated in a radius of 80km from Laingsburg - this includes Laingsburg, Merweville, and Prince Albert.

We treasure the heritage of early tribes of Khoi-Khoi and Koranna people in the name of this region. The Khoi-Khoi named it “Goup”, which directly translates into “the rich, fatty inner fat of lamb”; and the Koranna version sounds “Ghoup”, meaning “skeleton”. It perfectly relates to this dry and semi-desert skeleton area which, after a good rain, easily turns its grounds into colourful and jubilant fields of abundance! This experience eventually convinces everyone who lives here of the true existence & providence of the Almighty Creator, our God.

Driven by a social worker in private practice, this enterprise provides temporarily employment to low-income people who mostly are dependant from social grants.

Koup Knoffel’s Egyptian White Garlic
